North American countries – Canada, US, and Mexico have the privilege of co-hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup after Qatar successfully and single-handedly hosted the tournament in 2022. This time around, the much-anticipated tournament will kick off at Mexico City’s legendary Estadio Azteca, making it the first stadium in history to host three World Cup opening matches.
The City of Toronto, in Canada, has unveiled the official FIFA World Cup 2026 Host City poster. Designed by Dave Murray, the poster features a player in motion, emblazoned with a stylized red maple leaf, as they prepare to strike. The figure symbolizes the grandeur of the FIFA World Cup TM and its importance in growing the game of soccer across Toronto, Ontario, and Canada.
Toronto will host six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This will mark the first-ever men’s FIFA World Cup match on Canadian soil on June 12, 2026 and a round of 32 matches on July 2, 2026. Overall, 16 cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico will collectively host 104 games from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Countries Facing Ban From 2026 FIFA World Cup
In the 2022 FIFA World Cup, host country Qatar drew flak for its human rights issues. This time around, about 43 countries could be banned from the 2026 FIFA World Cup because of the US. President Donald Trump’s proposed travel ban. Three countries already face ban – Russia, Pakistan and Congo.
If the Trump administration goes ahead with the implementation of the travel ban, Cameroon, Venezuela, and Iran could be blocked.
