Germany Crush Scotland 5-1 In The Opening Match Of UEFA EURO 2024. The hosts of UEFA EURO 2024 Germany gave a resounding defeat to Scotland in an electrifying first match of the month-long tournament. The German side was energized with Florian Wirtz scoring just 10 minutes into the game followed by Jamal Musiala, 21, sending the ball rolling into the roof of the net.
The third goal from the German side came just before halftime that saw Scotland’s Ryan Porteous getting a red card for kicking German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan in the shin, and a penalty shot taken by Kai Havertz.
The Scotland fans were left in dismay as the Scottish team failed to keep up with the Germans. The fourth goal from the Germans came from Niclas Fullkrug and the fifth by Emre Can, leaving the Scotland side crushed.

Moreover, Germany is now listed in the record books as the first nation in the European Championship history to have two players aged 21 or younger, Florian Witrz and Jamal Musiala, score in the same match.
Scotland coach Steve Clarke commended Germany for playing a great game. He said the German side was outstanding and the Scottish team couldn’t match them. He said they (Germany) ran away from Scotland very quickly. Scotland failed to get a foothold in the game.
