Kylian Mbappe Takes Responsibility For France Failure Against Spain At UEFA EURO 2024. “It was a failure”, said Kylian Mbappe after France bowed out losing 2-1 to Spain in the semi-final of the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament. It was a pressing match. France took an early lead when Randal Kolo Muani scored but Spain’s Lamine Yamal netted the equalizer in the 21st minute, and Dani Olmo put Spain ahead with the second goal minutes after.
Mbappe said France’s dream to be the European champions has been dashed. However, he added that its football and they have to move on. The French captain said he will take a much-needed break, go on holiday and rest, and return stronger.
Fans are blaming Mbappe’s poor form and the French coach’s bad decisions for the team’s loss. The Real Madrid Forward had to dorn a face mask during the Round of 16 to protect his broken nose. The mask hindered his gameplay and was taken off field in the quarterfinal against Portugal after the ball knocked his mask off.
As such, Mbappe played the final without the mask and was able to assist Muani score that one goal against Spain. But he couldn’t take advantage of the chance to equalize.

Spain Is The Better Team at UEFA EURO 2024
France coach Didier Deschamps highlighted Spain as the better team as it made things very difficult. He said they knew that Spain was a great team and they proved it by winning the semi-final. Deschamps pointed out that France was initially in the lead, but Spain dominated the game. He said the opponent was superior in terms of control and technique, and deserved the win.
Deschamps took France’s loss in his stride saying that Antoine Griezmann didn’t start but Mbappe did and the team tried its best to be as efficient as possible. He said Spain mastered the game and France failed to perform till the end. The coach defended his players they did their best.
