Lamine Yamal believes he isn’t playing well and expressed frustration when he was substituted in the 67th minute against Alaves in the recent La Liga match. He told reporters that he was unhappy with his performance.
When asked whether he was upset with coach Hansi Flick, Yamal, 17, said he wasn’t. “I could have played better,” he clarified. The Barca winger shared that he pushes himself a lot. I believe that’s the mindset I need to keep to play at 100 percent in every match, and it was more about my own standards.”
Yamal highlighted that Flick had even asked him about his frustration. He told the Barcelona coach he didn’t feel he helped the boys enough. The youngster believes he could have contributed more and promised to be his 100 percent in the next game.

Lamine Yamal Feeling the Pressure
Lamine Yamal has been in the spotlight for quite some time now, and Barcelona FC is trying its best to protest their young football prodigy. He became the youngest player and goal scorer for Spain at the age of 16 years. The Spanish footballer is also called the ‘mini-Messi’.
Moreover, Yamal helped Spain win the UEFA EURO 2024 and was also nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or. Last month, Julio Pulido (a journalist) criticized Barcelona FC for putting pressure on the youngster and substituting him for Ferran Torres despite him being the best player in the first half against Switzerland in the Nations League.
He highlighted the pressure that clubs put on their players not to play too much. “I can’t find any other explanation.”
