Manchester United has alarmed its new signings with performance-based contracts in a bid to reduce the club’s bloated wage bill. Sir Jim Ratcliffe believes Man Utd would be bust by Christmas without the cost-cutting strategies.
He said most of the money leaking out of the club is spent on the players’ wages. As such, Ratcliffe has vowed to slash players’ pay. He told the British media that salaries for new signings and stars attempting to renegotiate their deals will be massively scaled back. Huge bonuses will be offered when results improve.
Sources say Man Utd is moving towards performance-based contracts. The club will pay competitively but needs to manage its wage bill. The management wants to ensure that the Red Devils are getting value for money. Performance-based contracts will impact new players like Kobbie Mainoo.

Manchester United Looks Lost – Wayne Rooney
Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney, former player, says the Red Devils look lost. He said they look scared and only Bruno Fernandes is producing. Rooney believes Man Utd needs massive changes to the squad. He said the club needs to let go of 10 to 15 players but that can’t be done. Rooney said no one is taking responsibility.
The English professional football manager believes that Manchester United’s players are taking it too easy. “There is a culture at the club where it’s too easy to lose games and the players come out and say, ‘Onto the next one’, and all that rubbish.” Not mincing his words, Rooney called on the Red Devils to show some character and fight on the pitch.
