Ruben Amorim is set to steer Manchester United towards the top of the table after Erik ten Hag was shown the door for lackluster performance. The Red Devils are in talks with the Portuguese football manager and will get him through the £8.3 million release clause in his contract with Sporting CP.

Amorim had been in talks with West Ham for the manager’s job but no deal had surfaced. Yesterday, he told a news conference that he wasn’t ready to talk about taking up the job at Manchester United. But the club is ready to pay Amorim’s £8.3 million release clause to rope him in.

Manchester United is not ready to take chances, as the Portuguese is being eyed by Manchester City and West Ham and was also linked to Liverpool before Arne Slot took over. The club has also shortlisted Thomas Frank. But when cornered by reporters, Frank said he has a very big responsibility to Brentford, the club’s players, and fans.

He added that he is very happy here as it’s one of the best clubs in the world. In the meantime, Ruud van Nistelrooy is the interim manager helping prepare the team for the midweek Carabao Cup against Leicester City.
