AC Milan

The Glory And History of AC Milan: A Legendary Football Club. AC Milan is the Italian football club with the most international success, having won the European Cup and UEFA Champions League seven times each. Associazione Calcio, or “kicking club” in English, is what the acronym AC stands for.

History

Actually, Herbert Kilpin and Alfred Edwards, two English immigrants, formed AC Milan. The precise day was December 13, 1899. Milan Foot-Ball and Cricket Club was the name of the club when it first began, which was primarily a football and cricket club. However, fairly quickly, football took over, and in 1919, the club changed its name to Milan FC (the name would change again, first to Milan Associazione Sportiva and later to Associazione Calcio Milan).

The club is called Milan rather than Milano because of the British influence. Milan FC established itself quickly, taking home its first Scudetto two years later. They then added two more, in 1906 and 1907.

History

Although the city of Milan has previously had multiple women’s teams that adopted the same name and colors as the well-known men’s A.C. Milan club, such as the founded in 1965, the Associazione Calcio Femminile Milan founded in 1982, or the more recent Football Milan Ladies founded in 2013, none of these entities have ever had any affiliation with the men’s club, which only formed its women’s section on June 11, 2018, after acquiring Brescia’s Series A license.

The team’s inaugural head coach was selected as Carolina Morace. She was the first woman to be elected into the Italian Football Hall of Fame and the 12-time Serie A leading scorer. Milan’s first season ended with a third-place result.
