The most talked about Test series has finally begun with India taking on Australia in four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series with the first Test being underway at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium (VCA). Ravindra Jadeja makes a fine comeback to bring India back in the game
Ravindra Jadeja made a fine comeback after being out for six months due to injury. The left arm spinner took 5/47 in 22 overs.
In between Peter Handscomb and wicketkeeper Alex Carey tried to stabilize the innings but it was Jadeja who got the wicket of Carey helping India all out Australia for 177.
Ravichandran Ashwin taking his 450th Test wicket
Veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took his 450th Test wicket becoming the only Asian player in the subcontinent to take 450 Test wickets and scoring 3043 runs in the longer format with 5 centuries to his name.
He became only the second Indian after Anil Kumble to take 450 Test wickets thus registering his name in the list of the greats. He took 3/42 on the first day.
Indian openers laying the platform with captain Rohit Sharma registering a fine half-century
The day belonged to India with the Indian openers continuing with the momentum. Rohit Sharma played a fine knock by scoring on all sides of the wicket. The right-hander looked classy with his cover drives and square cuts.
