The Indian Premier League 15th edition will take place next year from April. There will be a mega auction for the teams towards the end of this year or early next year. BCCI has been following the five-player retention policy, but this is expected to change for the IPL 2022 mega auction, with each team allowed to retain 3 or 4 players.

VIRAT KOHLI
The captain of RCB, Virat Kohli, will be the first player to be retained. He is the best player for the franchise, having scored the highest 6283 runs in the IPL history. RCB is incomplete without the services of Kohli, and the entire batting unit revolves around him.
Though he has not won any IPL title under his captaincy and he will step down as RCB captain. But his presence in the team will make a big difference.
DEVDUTT PADIKKAL
Devdutt Padikkal surely finds himself on the retention list ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction due to his splendid form for the team in the last two years. Padikkal is an attacking batsman and has played a few good knocks at the top of the order. He has accumulated 884 runs in 29 matches. His role at the top of the order will be crucial for RCB.

Glenn Maxwell
The next player who is a certainty to be retained by RCB team management is All-rounder Glenn Maxwell. Like Virat Kohli, Max is also an integral member of the team with his batting and keeping responsibilities.
He has scored 2018 runs overall in the IPL and took 21 wickets. So, his place on the side is untouched.

YUZVENDRA CHAHAL
Yuzvendra Chahal is expected to be the fourth player (If BCCI allows more than 3 players) to be retained by RCB ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. His ability to take wickets in crucial moments has helped RCB win a few close games. Chahal has picked a total of 139 wickets in IPL. The team management will like to continue the services of Chahal in IPL 2022.
