IPL 2023: Big Blow To Royal Challengers Bangalore As Star Duo’s Participation In IPL 2023 Uncertain. Royal Challengers Bangalore encountered a major problem before the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. A report by ESPNCricinfo suggests that star duo Rajat Patidar, an Indian middle-order batsman, and Josh Hazlewood, an Australian fast bowler may not be able to participate in IPL 2023.
The 2023 Indian Premier League starts on March 31, but the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s two key players will miss the tournament due to injury: Rajat Patidar and Josh Hazlewood. It’s unclear if they’ll miss just the first few matches or the entire tournament. RCB will feel their absence as both were integral parts of the team during IPL 2022.
Rajat Patidar Suffering From Heels Injury
With only a week until the start of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League, RCB has suffered a huge setback. One of their prominent batting players has sustained a heel injury and is likely to miss almost half of IPL 2023.
Faf du Plessis-led RCB will open its campaign on April 2 against Mumbai Indians but ahead of that, they have already experienced squad depletion due to Rajat Patidar’s injury. As a consequence, he might miss the first three weeks of the upcoming season.
Patidar became an instant sensation for RCB in IPL 2022 when he replaced Luvnith Sisodia midway through the season and ended up becoming their third-highest run-getter with 333 runs after just seven matches. He even registered a century in the crunch eliminator game against LSG which became the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history.
Josh Hazlewood Suffering From Achilles Tendonitis
Last year’s mega-auction saw the signing of 32-year-old Hazlewood for Rs 7.75 crore by RCB. However, he has been affected by Achilles tendonitis, raising doubts about his participation in the entire tournament. This injury kept him from playing any of the four Test matches against India earlier this year and caused him to miss the three-match ODI series.
