All these South African players will be available to play in IPL 2023 from April 3 as South Africa will play the two-match ODI series from March 31 to April 2 against the Netherlands. As per ESPNcricinfo, Cricket South Africa (CSA) informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that they want the services of their top players for the ODI series against the Netherlands.

This is a big blow for the above franchises, which are gearing up for IPL 2023. The absence of South African players will affect mainly franchises like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.
South Africa’s Qualification For The 2023 World Cup At Stake
The ODI series between South Africa and the Netherlands is vital for the 2023 ODI World Cup qualification, as the ODI series is part of the ODI Super League. South Africa must defeat the Netherlands in this series to qualify for the World Cup. Hence, CSA informed BCCI that they will require the services of their players for the series.
The top eight ODI Super League teams will qualify for the 2023 World Cup automatically; whereas the worst five teams must compete in World Cup Qualifiers against five Associate teams. South Africa ranked nine in the ODI Super League so they need to defeat the Netherlands in the home ODI series to climb into the top eight to qualify for the 2023 World Cup.
