IPL 2025: Team Owners Meeting Highlights. IPL (Indian Premier League) owners held on 31st July primarily addressed crucial topics such as players’ retention, the utilization of Right to Match (RTM) cards, and the players’ purse ahead of the upcoming mega auction. Here is a summary of what was agreed, as well as what some team owners thought about it:
Key Decisions and Topics:
1. Player Retention: – Teams are likely to be allowed between 5-6 players with an eye on holding on to the core of the teams while maintaining a level playing field at the auction.
2. Right to Match (RTM): – The use of RTMs generated mixed reactions. Regarding their use in keeping star players or not there have been fears that they might lead to the inflation of player prices. Each team may be permitted to use a maximum of eight RTM cards.
3. Player Purse: – There was a suggestion to increase the player purse from INR 100 crore to INR 140 crore. This would help the team owners to retain and lure top talent better.
