As per reports, the injury to Gill’s thumb occurred during a match simulation exercise on the 16th of November, where he was fielding in the slips.

Scans later confirmed a fracture. Thus his chances of taking part in the first Test against Australia, which is set to commence on the 22nd day of November at the Optus Stadium, seem very slim.

This means Abhimanyu Easwaran can be pitched for his Test debut. Other reserve players might come in depending on the fitness blade updates.
