Carlos Alcaraz is into the quarterfinal at Indian Wells 2025

Carlos Alcaraz is into the quarterfinals after defeating No 14 seed Grigor Dimitrov 6-1, 6-1 at the Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open 2025. Despite the windy conditions, the Spaniard gave his best. He showed the Bulgarian his place as the latter had beaten him in their last two meetings.

However, Alcaraz was all praises for Dimitrov. He said the opponent didn’t ease off at throughout the one-hour, 14-minute match. Alcaraz told reporters he didn’t slow down when he won the first set. “I just continued to play great tennis and that’s what I’m pleased about the most today.”

The World No. 1 admitted that it’s really difficult to play against Grigor. “He’s a talented player and he can do whatever he wants with the ball.” Alcaraz highlighted that he lost against Dimitrov in the last two matches. He added the latest game was played in difficult conditions. “I had to survive, I’m very happy that I was able to play long rallies, even with the conditions, I’m happy to get through.”

Carlos Alcaraz To Play 4th Consecutive Quarterfinal at Indian Wells

The match against No 25 seed Francisco Cerundolo will be Carlos Alcaraz’s fourth consecutive quarterfinals at Indian Wells. He is the 2024 defending champion of the BNP Paribas Open and is geared towards a three-peat.

Alcaraz would tie Jannik Sinner in first place in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin if he achieves the same feat as G.O.A.T.S Roger Federer (2004-06) and Novak Djokovic (2014-16). However, in the PIF ATP Rankings, the Spaniard is behind the Italian and Alexander Zverev.

About his upcoming match against the Argentine, Alcaraz said he knows Cerundolo is playing great. He highlighted that Cerundolo plays really well on every surface, a complete player that can well really good tennis on every surface.
