Coco Gauff has made it into the second round of Wimbledon but she is still haunted by the dismal first-round exit in Wimbledon 2023 after falling to Sofia Kenin. The No. 2 made a quick recovery and won a grand slam champion at the US Open within two months of her shocking exit at Wimbledon.
This time around, Gauff is determined to make it all the way and even hopeful of winning the prestigious title. She shared that 2023 was challenging. The American tennis player said she was in a dark place the first two or three weeks after Wimbledon 2023. Gauff, 20, confided that it was tough for her to realize that she had so much time. She said when something like that happens, one just feels the weight of everything on them.
Gauff believes she has grown a lot through it. She used that dark moment to strive and get better. However, the singles champion says she is nowhere near where she can be. But the experience taught her that a bad moment doesn’t last forever.
