IPL 2024 SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad Aims To Fly High With Strong Players And Balance Squad. Sunrisers Hyderabad had been one of the most consistent teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since David Warner led them to their first title in 2016. However, their performance in the last three seasons was disappointing with a last-place finish in IPL 2021 and 2023, an eighth-place finish in 2022. Although Sunrisers Hyderabad experienced good and bad fortunes, they failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last three editions.
Aiden Markram is the third captain in four seasons, taking over from Kane Williamson, who succeeded David Warner in 2021. Despite the leadership changes, the Orange Army appears to be a well-balanced team capable of maintaining consistency and breaking the trend of seismic slides.

IPL 2024 Auction Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Players
The team has raised the star quotient with the additions of Pat Cummins and Travis Head in the IPL 2024 auction. SRH bought ODI World Cup 2023 winning team captain Pat Cummins with a whooping 20.50 Crore in the auction. They successfully bid on another Aussie batter Travis Head at 6.80 Cr. Apart from Cummins and Head SRH bought Wanindu Hasaranga (Rs. 1.50 crore), Jaydev Unadkat (Rs. 1.60 crore), Akash Singh (20 lakh) and Jhathavedh Subramanyan (Rs. 20 lakh) at IPL auction.
IPL 2024 Unleashing the Strengths of Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH boasts an enviable depth in their batting department, with the ability to slot Washington Sundar as low as No. 8. Mayank Agarwal, providing them with options in the top and middle-order. The presence of Markram as a solid anchor can provide stability to a line-up consisting of power hitters like Rahul Tripathi, Abdul Samad, and Heinrich Klaasen.
They have world class pacer like Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik and Marco Jansen.

Analyzing the Weaknesses of SRH
The Sunrisers exhibit some weak points in their Power Play batting and death overs bowling. Although Abhishek and Agarwal can form a capable left-right opening combination, they lack firepower in the Power Play. Travis Head is a test player and his ability to bat in T20 is yet to be shown.
Given that Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s skills as a death bowler are diminishing and Umran Malik and Marco Jansen have limited experience at this stage of the tournament, Hyderabad will have to rely on Pat Cummins and Wanindu Hasranga who takes wickets but may also concede runs at the back of the field.
Who Will Captain SRH in IPL 2024 Aiden Markram or Pat Cummins?
Aiden Markram, who led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to victory in the inaugural edition of SA20, enter Iin PL 2023 with valuable captaincy experience. But he failed to demonstrate his skills as a player and captain. In IPL 2023, Markram accumulated only 248 runs in 13 innings for Hyderabad with a strike rate of almost 128. Team lost 10 games out of 14 under his captaincy.
Experts predict that in the upcoming season, experienced Pat Cummins may lead SRH. He is one of the most successful captains of current era.
