Novak Djokovic To Face Carlos Alcaraz In Final: Paris Olympics 2024. Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz vied for gold at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Serbian is more ambitious as he is yet to win an Olympic gold medal. And this is the Spaniard’s first Olympics, so he will be the fiercest contender.

This face-off comes after Djokovic and Alcaraz battled in the Wimbledon final in July, with the latter claiming victory in three sets at Roland-Garros. For Djokovic, this is the first time in his career that he has reached the final at the Olympics. He only has a bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The former World No. 1 is determined to seal an Olympic gold medal.

In the semi-finals, Djokovic, 37, defeated Lorenzo Musetti of Italy 6-4 6-2. He lay down on the clay to take in the moment. Djokovic shared that he has never been to the Olympic finals and this time in Paris, it’s a huge relief. He wants to secure a gold medal for the first time for his country Serbia.

Djokovic said whatever happens on Sunday (final) will be a huge pride, honor and happiness for Serbia and him. He highlighted that it’s a big deal and he will give his all. About his rival, the 24-time Grand Slam champion said Alcaraz is currently the best tennis player in the world. But Djokovic added that he is likely to beat the youngster as he feels different than he was in Wimbledon and sees himself winning the Olympic final.

Novak Djokovic’s Knee is Problematic Again

Djokovic highlighted concerns about his right knee on Thursday night. He felt a sharp pain in his surgically repaired knee during the quarterfinals against Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Serbian shared that he has to have the knee examined with the physio. He took the world by storm when he played at Wimbledon just days after the knee surgery – a partial menisectomy. Djokovic posted on his Instagram that his love for tennis is strong and the desire to compete at the highest level keeps him going.
