Paris 2024: Swapnil Kusale’s Olympic Medal Prompts Double Promotion In Railways After 9 Years Delay. Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale who brought India glory with a bronze medal in the 50m Rifle 3 positions event at Paris Olympics 2024 is set to receive a double promotion at Central Railway where has been working since 2015. Kusale won a bronze medal for third position, with Liu Yukun of China winning the gold, and Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish winning silver.

Swapnil, who has been working as a traveling ticket examiner (TTE), left no stone unturned in seeking a promotion but was denied the same for nine years.

Deepali Deshpande, his coach, told a media outlet the star shooter was disappointed with his employer. She highlighted that Kusale was never considered for promotion despite him working with the Railways for nearly a decade. He said before flying to Paris for the Olympics, the 28-year-old was asked to report to the office to get his promotion file pushed. However, Kusale couldn’t do so because he was busy training for the Summer Games.

His workmate also shared that Swapnil Kusale has had to deal with rude seniors. But now that he has brought pride and glory to India, the Railways can no longer deny him the promotion. He has been promoted to Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Sports Cell in Mumbai.

According to a press release by Central Railways, Kusale’s achievement in Paris has established him as a significant figure in Indian shooting sports. It attributed the young man’s success to years of training and dedication. The Central Railways lauded Kusale for being a role model for aspiring athletes in the country.
