The US Open is the final grand slam tennis tournament for the year and the stakes have been set high with Novak Djokovic defending his title. The Serbian won his fourth and 24th Grand Slam titles at the US Open 2023, beating Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6 (5), 6-3 in the final.
The competition is full of youngsters like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Daniil Medvedev, among others. So far, Djokovic, 37, has held his ground. He won the match-up against Laslo Djere 6-4, 6-4, 2-0, his 90th career win at the US Open.
Alcaraz won his first match of the US Open against Li Tu. All eyes are on the Spaniard to add the US Open 2024 title to his kitty as he has breezed through the French Open and Wimbledon this year. Jannik Sinner is also into his second round after beating Mackenzie McDonald. The Italian has been basking in a bad light since his doping case became public. He tested positive twice for the banned substance Clostebol (anabolic steroid).
Moreover, Alexander Zverev beat Alexandre Muller, to make it to the second round. He will face Andrey Rublev.

US Open 2024 Men’s Singles Favorites
It will most likely be a Djokovic and Alcaraz final. The youngster lost the gold medal at the Paris Olympics and is set to make amends by aiming for the Grand Slam US Open title for the second time. Alcaraz, 21, won the US Open in 2022. He became the youngest man and male teenager (at 19 years old) in the Open Era to dominate the singles rankings.
Djokovic will not let go of his US Open title so easily. He would want to finish the year on a high note and put up a battle. Despite his knee surgery, the legend gave his all at the Olympics to win that gold for his country Serbia. And now he will definitely defend his title for keeps.
