Updated WTC standings after SA vs WI 1st Test Match: The first Test between South Africa and the West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad was drawn due to inclement weather severely hitting play throughout the match.
South Africa batted first to post 357 runs on the board. It was an innings that was based on two vital fifties from Tony de Zorzi and Temba Bavuma. Jomel Warrican was the best of the West Indies bowlers, picking up four wickets. In response, the West Indies were all out for 233 runs.
Several West Indies batsmen, such as captain Kraigg Brathwaite, Keacy Carty, and Jason Holder, started but couldn’t convert them into big scores. There was an impressive performance by South African spinner Keshav Maharaj that fetched him four wickets.

In the second innings, South Africa declared at 173/3, thereby making it a competitive chase for the West Indies. Tristan Stubbs was the top scorer with a brisk 60 off 50 balls.In the second inning, the West Indies were all out for 201/5 when the match was declared drawn. This time, it was Alick Athanaze who played a big role, scoring 92 and holding the innings together.
The match was severely rain-affected on the final day, much more than on the previous ones, which compelled South Africa not to press for an outright victory. Thus, South Africa remains seventh in the championship standings with 25% of the outcome of its contests gained, while the West Indies are at the bottom with 19.04%. Keshav Maharaj was declared player of the match for his clinical bowling effort.

England moves to the sixth spot after its recent 3-0 series victory over the West Indies. It has a PCT of 36.54%. This update puts major changes in the middle to the lower half of the table, with South Africa and Bangladesh finishing off positions, while the West Indies is stuck in the bottom position.
