WPL 2023 RCB vs DC: A Dominant Win For Delhi Capitals Over Royal Challengers Bangalore. On the second day of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, Delhi Capitals Women (DC) faced Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the first match of the day. RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
Delhi Capitals openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma gave a solid start to their side. They continue to bat aggressively to amassed 57 runs in the power play. After the power play, Shafali looked in sublime touch and played his attacking strokes in all parts of the ground. They added 105 runs in the first half of the innings.

Both batters bring up their half-centuries in a short time. They tore apart Delhi Capitals’ bowling by playing very aggressive cricket. At last, Heather Knight gave the first breakthrough to RCB by removing Lanning. The Delhi Capitals skipper scored 72 runs off just 43 balls. She smashed 14 fours in her spectacular knock. Knight also removed Shafali in the same over. Shafali made 84 runs off just 45 balls. Her sensational knock was studded with 10 fours and four sixes.
Marizanne Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues provided the finishing touches to the innings by making 59 runs off the last five overs. DC put a humongous total of 223 on board in 20 overs after losing just two wickets.
RCB lose key wickets early in the innings
While chasing a mammoth total of 224 runs, RCB openers Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine gave a whirlwind start to the innings to score 54 runs in the power play. However, both openers departed in the first few overs. English off-spinner Alice Capsey dismissed both openers. RCB skipper Mandhana scored 35 runs off 23 balls.
One down batter Ellyse Perry tried to stitch a partnership with Disha Kasat. However, she fell after making 31 off 19 balls. RCB continued to lose wickets in succession. RCB could score only 163 runs in their 20 overs after losing eight wickets. Delhi Capitals displayed a clinical performance to defeat RCB by 60 runs. USA’s medium pacer Tara Norris picked five wickets while conceding only 29 runs in her four overs.
