BCCI Lodges Official Complaint Against Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially complained about the Pakistani players Harris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan during the intense Asia Cup match with the International Cricket Council (ICC). In the complaint to match referee Andy Pycroft, the BCCI called for swift action against Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for what the BCCI labelled as “provocative and indecent on-field conduct.”
As reported, the BCCI has backed its case with video footage. The BCCI insists that the incidents were not just violations of the spirit of the game but had the potential to incite further hostilities in an already heated rivalry.
The key incidents regarding this complaint
During his fiftieth celebration, Sahibzada Farhan allegedly held his bat in a position mimicking a gun salute, a gesture that has been roundly condemned as having been insensitive. Haris Rauf made provocative gestures on two occasions as well; first, after taking the wicket of Indian batter Sanju Samson with excessive enthusiasm after dismissing him, and the second time on the boundary line, where it appeared that he was responding to Indian fans waving his hand signaling ‘0–6’, an apparent reference to disputed political narratives.
The BCCI has asserted that such conduct is a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct and has invited Pycroft to impose disciplinary action for the conduct exhibited by both players.
The ICC has acknowledged the complaint. If Rauf and Farhan dispute the charges, there may be a formal hearing before Pycroft or another match referee, Richie Richardson. Sanctions could involve fines and suspension, depending on the nature of the charges.

This incident has contributed to tension in India-Pakistan cricket, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also filing counter-complaints against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav for allegedly inflammatory comments. As both boards take action on their allegations, the ICC has a serious test of discipline and fairness in one of cricket’s most politically sensitive rivalries.
