On Sunday, the BCCI apex council sanctioned Rs 10 crore to supports India’s Olympic campaign in Tokyo. The proposal to support in an emergency meeting after it received a request from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The apex council of the BCCI has decided to release Rs. 2.5 crore liquid funds while the remaining 7.5 crore for running a promotional campaign in the lead-up to the Olympics starts from July 23 and will run until August 8 in Tokyo with more than 100 Indian athletes expected to participate in the world’s largest mega event.

2.5 crore will be utilized for logistical requirements of the contingent whereas the remaining funds will be used to create for the campaign and promotional activities ”
Earlier on Sunday, the BCCI office-bearers briefed state associations about supporting the Olympic campaign.
While the BCCI has moved swiftly to support the Olympic campaign, domestic cricketers and officials are still waiting to be compensated for the loss of matches due to the COVID pandemic.
In December 2020, the BCCI AGM had decided to form a group to work on the compensation package.
