IPL 2024: Gujarat Titans (GT) Can Release 5 Players Before Auction: Gujarat Titans (GT) IPL 2023 season came to an end with a sour note after they were defeated in the final by Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Despite finishing second, the Titans had a wonderful season and will be looking to improve even more next season. We’ve seen top-tier batting and bowling from them, and the GT team may be optimistic about their prospects.
Though they were lost in the IPL 2023 final, they proved to be the top squad in the league phase of the IPL 2023 as well. The Titans won 10 of their 14 league games this season, finishing first in the rankings.
Given that the IPL 2024 mini auction is still seven months away, the GT think tank will be planning for next season’s recruits. The Titans have certain holes to fill, which will be addressed during the transfer window and auction. Gujarat may release some players based on their performance this year.
5 Players Gujarat Titans May Release This Year
Yash Dayal
Yash Dayal was the find of the season for Gujarat Titans, not just because he could swing the new ball but also because he appeared to have enough change-ups to be a strong death bowler. Dayal has played 14 IPL matches so far, taking 13 wickets at an average of 35.46 and giving over 10.02 runs per over with a best individual total of 3/40.

However, Dayal had a difficult IPL 2023 season. Dayal’s season took a turn for the worst after being blasted for five consecutive sixes by KKR batsman Rinku Singh. The UP-born left-arm bowler has only taken two wickets in five outings, therefore his performance in domestic contests will be critical. Only newfound zeal and domestic prowess may rescue Dayal’s position with the Gujarat Titans.
Kane Williamson
The New Zealand Star player sustained a season-ending injury in the season’s opening match. He was ruled out and will almost certainly miss the ODI World Cup later this year. With Williamson’s fitness in doubt, the Titans will almost certainly let him go and look elsewhere for a replacement.
Kane Williamson has played 77 matches in the IPL and scored 2101 runs at an average of 36.22. He’s also hit 18 half-centuries, with his best IPL total being 89 runs. Kane Williamson’s IPL career has seen him score 182 fours and 64 sixes.
Pradeep Sangwan
Sangwan bowls medium speed with his left arm. Pradeep Sangwan was purchased by the Ahmedabad franchise in the IPL Auction 2023 for Rs 20.00 Lac. Sangwan was a member of the Indian squad that won the Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia.
Pradeep Sangwan has played 42 IPL matches to far, taking 38 wickets at an average of 32.63 and giving approximately 8.69 runs per over with a best individual statistic of 3/18. However, the left-handed pitcher did not appear in a single game this year. The emergence of Mohit Sharma also hampered any opportunities for the Delhi-born spinner, and he appears to be another who might be cut before of the IPL 2024.

Dashun Shanaka
Many people wondered why Dasun Shanaka was never given a shot in the IPL despite doing admirably on the international T20 circuit. Shanaka got his chance at Gujarat Titans this season, and the Gujarat management put him in the top 5 so he could show off his bat skills.
But, in the three games he’s played thus far, Shanaka hasn’t really pitched a meaningful inning. Unless and until the Sri Lankan skipper performs spectacularly in qualifier 2, he may lose his spot in the Gujarat Titans side for next season.
Odean Smith
Odean Smith has played 6 IPL matches so far, taking 6 wickets at an average of 29.67 and giving approximately 11.87 runs per over with a best individual statistic of 4/30. Smith was acquired by the Ahmedabad franchise in the IPL Auction 2023 for Rs 50.00 Lac.
However, the West Indies all-rounder did not appear in a single game and may be released by GT before of the 2024 season. Smith, who has previously played for the Punjab Kings in the IPL, hasn’t had the greatest of luck this year and may have to look for greener pastures ahead of the IPL 2024.
