World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 Points Table, Standings Before India vs England 3rd Test. World Test Championship: Previous Editions
The first-ever World Test Championship final was played in June 2021, which featured New Zealand against India and eventually New Zealand emerged as the winners. The WTC was considered to replace the ICC Champions Trophy, played until 2017.
The second edition of the WTC was played from 2021 to 2023 and India was once again in the finals, placed against the mighty Aussies, who, after emerging winners, now have won all major ICC trophies played in the history of cricket.

This is the third edition of the ICC-announced tournament in the longest format of the game. Once again, it started with the Ashes between England and Australia in the summer of 2023 and will include 66 games between 9 top-ranked nations in Tests. The ICC has officially announced the final to be played at Lord’s after the inaugural season’s final was played here as well.

India and England’s WTC 2023-25
The English side has already played their series against Australia and is currently playing against India in their away series. They are midway through the series against India, where they started well with a commanding win in the subcontinent but the Indian team came back strongly in the second game. With 3 more matches to be played in the series, both of these heavyweights of the world test will look to dominate one another to better their chances in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final.
India started their WTC cycle playing against the Windies in an away series, which they won 1-0 and then played South Africa, proclaiming a 1-1 series draw against the Proteas in their land. Coming back to the subcontinent, India is hosting England for a 5-match test series. India would look to fancy their chances in the third consecutive final of the World Test championship.

India and England’s WTC 2023-25: Remaining Matches
After this series, England will play against Sri Lanka and the West Indies in their homeland, while they will tour the Kiwi Islands and Pakistan before they end their WTC cycle in 2025.
India, on the other hand, after competing in a home series against England, will also host Bangladesh and New Zealand. They will end their WTC cycle by visiting Australia to contest the defending champions in a 5-match series.
