Barcelona is set to face Valencia on August 18 in its debut match for La Liga season 2024-25 under coach Hansi Flick. The team has seen its fair share of injuries with Gavi, Pedri, and Frenkie de Jong being ruled out. Youngsters like Pablo Torre, Marc Bernal and Pau Victor have to pull their muscles to keep Barcelona in the game.
Sunday’s match will be Barca coach Hansi Flick’s first since he took the official reigns of the club. The team and fans expect things to be different under his leadership. Flick has stood up to criticism against the team. The German had earlier come down hard on Barcelona after they lost to Real Madrid in a friendly match 1-2. He urged the team to focus and press.
However, this time around when Barcelona faced fresh criticism, Flick stood by the team. He acknowledged that the team didn’t do well against Real Madrid but will do well in the La Liga match against Valencia. Flick believes the boys will give their best.

The coach said Dani Olmo will miss the match against Valencia because the attacking midfielder arrived very late in the pre-season. Olmo, 26, has participated in a few training seasons and he needs to keep up.
Flick hinted that Pedri who sustained injuries at the recent UEFA EURO 2024 tournament in Germany is recovering well. He will train for a few days before joining Barca for La Liga. The coach shared that the team has many good players who are ready to take the club forward and win the season. He highlighted that it won’t be easy, but Barcelona is fully prepared.
