16-year-old Lamine Yamal who scored the winning goal for Spain is the next biggest rising star in the world of soccer. The teen is set to climb the ranks of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as he navigates his career judiciously.
In September 2023, Yamal emerged as the youngest-ever player and goal-scorer for Spain, and helped the team win 7-1 against Georgia. He is also the youngest player to play in the Champions League.
Yamal has broken several records at the European Championship. His name is now etched in EURO history as the youngest player to participate and net a goal against France in the semi-final. But he caught the spotlight way before that…at just five months of age, he was bathed by none other than Lionel Messi himself, who was then 20 years old, for a charity event with Diario Sport – a Spanish newspaper.

Luis de la Fuente, the Spanish national team manager, says he first Yamal in Barcelona and lauds him as a footballer with exceptional talent. He believes the teen has been touched by the wand of God. De la Fuente said Yamal is a very important asset for the future.
The Spanish football boss believes they have to take care of the youngster. He wants Yamal to work with the same humility and keep his feet on the ground. And he showed that humility in the post-match press conference. Yamal said he doesn’t know if it was best goal in the tournament but it was very special for him. He shared that getting to the final with the national team in the UEFA EURO 2024 is super special for him.

Lamine Yamal is a Versatile Footballer
Yamal’s father is Moroccan and his mother is Equatoguinean. He was born in Catalonia, an autonomous region in Spain. The youngest currently plays forward for FC Barcelona. Yamal stands out with his dribbling style and quick stealth.
He debuted in April 2023 and became the youngest player at age 15 to represent Barcelona. Yamal has made his mark by creating chances and taking players on and his versatility – playing as a striker, on the right wing, or attacking midfielder.
