Manchester City 3 Celtic 4- Erling Haaland’s Header A Must Watch. Despite losing in North Carolina to Celtic, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola commended the boys for a good game. This was a pre-season match against the Scottish giants and Manchester City held its own.
Erling Haaland was at his best, heading an equalizer in the second half after a miserable start for the defending Premier League champions. Manchester City struggled to break Celtic. Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn found the net twice for his side within 45 minutes of the game, with a third goal by Kyogo Furuhashi, and a fourth from Luis Palma.
For the Premier League reigning champions, Oscar Bobb tried to take the club forward with a goal. He assisted Maximo Perrone in securing another, but this wasn’t enough as Celtic dominated the match.
Manchester City Youthful Team
Guardiola had deployed a youthful team, a mix of international players to get the club going. He believes there were many positives in the pre-season opener in the US. The manager is quite pleased with the players. Guardiola highlighted that it wasn’t easy.
Manchester City’s team against Celtic was a mix of senior players in the front and younger ones at the back. Guardiola said it’s difficult when there are so many young players, but they created chances, pace and quality.

Steve Howey, a coach and sports radio commentator, said Manchester City got a good workout, injury-free. He acknowledged that the boys were a bit sore and stiff after the game but that’s part and parcel of the pre-season. Howey said the game against Celtic was decent, Manchester City caught up to 3-3 but the opponent scored another goal, resulting in City’s loss.
The former footballer highlighted that Celtic is a top team, and this can be seen in the Scottish side’s dribbles, passes and the intensity they show on-field. About Manchester City, Howey said it was the first game of pre-season and the boys need to shed off the rust and come to the top of their game.
