Star footballer Mohamed Salah has finally said what fans have been dreading – that this is his last season, and last year to play at Liverpool. He dropped the shocker after Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Man United.

Salah told Sky Sports that it has been a great summer and he has had time to think. “I had a good summer and had a long time to myself to try to stay positive because as you know, it’s my last year at the club,” the forward said. Salah, 32, three-year contract with the Reds is expiring next June. Though there’s plenty of time, the Egyptian footballer seems to be pressing Liverpool for a better contract.

He highlighted that no one at Liverpool has spoken to him about the contract, thus he’s saying that this is last season – “Ok, I’m playing my last season and see what happens at the end of the season.” The footballer added that it’s not up to him “but nobody’s talked to me from the club.”

Salah made it clear that he will not accept anything less from Anfield as he has made his mark as one of the greatest footballers for the club. According to the Premier League, he has made 266 appearances for Liverpool, scored 160 goals, and helped the Reds with 173 wins, with the latest win against Manchester United.

Arne Slot, Liverpool’s manager, said that Mo Salah is currently one of the Reds. “At this moment he’s one of ours and I’m happy with him being one of ours.” The head coach lauded Salah for the great plays. “I don’t talk about contracts from players but I can talk for hours about how Mo played today – he was impressive.”

Fellow teammate Andy Robertson believes Salah is getting better with age. “You can see the shape he’s in. He is getting better with age in terms of his physical output and attributes,” he said. “Salah is a big-game player.” Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League clubs are keenly watching Liverpool and Mohamed Salah. Al Ittihad wants the Egyptian on its side and is willing to pay £150 million.
