Spain is the UEFA EURO 2024 champions after beating England 2-1 in the final of the European Championships. Mikel Oyarzabal helped Spain in the 86th minute of the EURO 2024 final, breaking away from a draw with England to leaving The Three Lions behind 2-1.
Ollie Watkins for the English side replaced Harry Kane in the second half but failed to take the team forward. However, England put up a tough game as Cole Palmer shot in the equalizer on 73 minutes. Kane said England suffered defeat in Berlin because of tiredness. He believes the tired mentality put the team in the back seat and fell against Spain.
The England captain highlighted that it’s common in the last stage of the tournament. The players were tired, struggled and got caught with the ball in behind.
England Team Disappointed
Kane said the boys had a big moment and cleared one off the line – it could have been different but ended in disappointment. However, the captain commended the team for being resilient. He acknowledged that it was difficult but they did great to get to the final.
England manager Gareth Southgate, who has faced heavy criticism for the team’s failure to perform, attributed the loss to their inability to retain the ball. He said The Three Lions didn’t keep the ball well enough, and took more out of the legs. Southgate believes England didn’t do enough to win the game. He expressed pride for the team but also disappointment for the loss.
Southgate said the England team had resilience, and momentum but didn’t do enough.

Spain Wins EURO Title For Record The Fourth Time
Spain bagged the European Championship title for the fourth time. Coach Luis de la Fuente applauded the team saying they were in the position to win it. He acknowledged that it’s difficult to improve, but the team can keep growing as it doesn’t tire of hard work, competition and winning.
De la Fuente said the players made history. The team has been infallible ever since he took charge in 2023.
