ICC Ratings For T20 World Cup 2024 Pitches: There has been a lot of debate about the pitches that were being used in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Considering pitches in venues like Nassau County Stadium in New York and Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, there has been an uproar. As per reports from the ICC, these pitches have been given a rating of “below average” on account of their varied bounce and pace, which hugely affected the games during important matches.
The opening matches of this tournament were played at the New York pitch that was criticised for being lethargic and too sluggish for batsmen to freely score; hence, they made it another game where no one managed to make an amazing score. It continuously became worse with time until it became clear that indeed this was not just another pitch but a slow one, thus actively costing runs for both teams that played on different occasions over some time.

Considering team India’s matches, the pitches in Nassau County cricket stadium, New York, have been rated ‘unsatisfactory’ by the ICC. The pitch against Pakistan in Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York and the one against England in the semi-final in Providence Stadium, Guyana, are rated’ satisfactory’. Kensington Oval’s pitch in Barbados, which hosted the final against South Africa, was rated’ very good’ by the ICC.
That is why the ICC has come up with the decision of monitoring all other grounds in a very strict manner. The ICC’s ultimate goal is to keep the cricket standards throughout the world at their best by taking such considerations into account when preparing pitches or choosing places for international competitions.
