India faced a 406-run target after the visitors posted 405/7. Gill reached his double century in 117 balls, the fastest in ODI history, and guided India to an eight-wicket win with 39 balls to spare. The victory sealed the series 2-0.
Gill Produces Record-Breaking Knock
Gill took control of the chase after Rohit Sharma provided India with a quick start. The pair added 255 runs for the first wicket before Rohit fell for 101 off 75 balls, scoring his 35th ODI ton. Gill then continued the attack, taking India towards the target.
He reached his century from 62 balls and then accelerated towards his double century. Gill reached 200 from just 117 balls, setting the record for the fastest double-century in men’s ODI cricket. He finished unbeaten on 223 from 133 balls, with 26 fours and eight sixes.
Gill’s control percentage stood at 90%, showing how cleanly he struck the ball throughout his innings.

Gill’s Numbers Continue to Rise
Gill now has 11 ODI hundreds and 20 fifties from 68 innings. His career numbers stand at 3,712 runs, an average of 65.12 and a strike rate of 103.45. In ODIs during 2026, Gill’s average is 127.71, while his strike rate is 119.51. The latest innings also made Gill the second Indian batter, after Rohit Sharma, to score two ODI double centuries.
India Complete Record Chase
West Indies posted 405/7 after John Campbell, Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo all scored centuries. It was the highest ODI total in West Indies history.
India reached 406/2 in 43.3 overs, winning by eight wickets with 39 balls remaining. It was India’s highest successful ODI chase and only the second time a team had successfully chased a target above 400 in men’s ODI cricket. With the win, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
