The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway in the UAE. All eight teams are fighting against each other to get a place in the top four. There have been few exceptional performances in this edition. Standout players such as Shikhar Dhawan, Shubhman Gill, Harshal Patel, etc., have played well. But, a few seasoned cricketers have not lived up to the expectation of their team owners in this IPL 2021.

As a result, they are most likely to be released by their respective franchises. However, because two new teams will be introduced in IPL 2022, and a mega auction will be held in December- January these players might be grabbed by the new teams.
Let us look at five players who failed to perform in the tournament despite many opportunities.
Nicholas Pooran
Punjab Kings team management has a lot of expectations from the West indies super-star Nicholas Pooran. But, he has not risen to the occasion for the Punjab Kings. The middle-order for PKBS is very inexperienced. A player of a caliber like Nicholas Pooran needs to guide the team through the middle overs. He has accumulated just 68 runs in 9 innings of IPL 2021. His average this season is a dismal 8.50.

Kedar Jadhav
Kedar Jadhav is another player who has failed to make his mark in IPL 2021. The last season for him was also abysmal. As a result, CSK released him ahead of IPL 2021. SRH purchased Kedar Jadhav, seeing the experience he has. But, all the faith in the team management looks down.
He has managed to score just 55 runs in 6 matches of IPL 2021, with the highest score of 19 runs. Kedar Jadhav will have to bat with more intent so that SRH fortunes can change in the remaining games of IPL 2021.

Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan has been the talk of the town in the recent few months. He made an exceptional debut against England in the T20 game the last Dec. His IPL 2021 stint with Mumbai Indians has been off-color. Ishan Kishan is a very versatile player but has failed to make a substantial contribution to MI.
As a result, the team management has also dropped him in the last few games from playing X1. In the seven matches of IPL 2021, Ishan Kishan has scored just 99 runs with an average of 14.

Vijay Shankar
Vijay Shankar joins the list of players who have failed to contribute to the team in IPL 2021. One of the reasons why SRH languishes at the bottom of the IPL 2021 points table is the performance of their all-rounders. Vijay Shankar has scored just 58 runs in 7 games so far and has picked only three wickets.
His Feilding has also deteriorated in IPL 2021, bringing more curtains for the team. Vijay Shankar will have to find ways to contribute to the team in a better way. Else SRH is sure to see themselves as the first team to get out from the race of the IPL 2021 playoff.

Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal, the most successful bowler for RCB, is having a tough time these days. The wrist-spinner has played nine matches for the franchise in IPL 2021 and has managed to pick just 9 wickets. His performance is the biggest weakness for Royal Challengers Bangalore this edition.
Despite repeated opportunities, his flop show with the ball is also making Kohli worry. RCB will expect Chahal to deliver with the ball, else IPL is a tournament where teams get knocked out quickly with 2-3 poor games.
