Karnataka Activist Threatens FIR Against Rajasthan Royals Over Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s IPL Participation. The participation of teenage cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in IPL 2026 has sparked fresh controversy. Karnataka activist CM Shivakumar Nayak accused Rajasthan Royals of exploiting the young batter. He described the teenager’s participation as a form of child labour.
Nayak threatened to file an FIR against the Rajasthan Royals franchise. He claimed the franchise ignored the child’s education for commercial cricket opportunities. During a television debate, Nayak questioned why a 15-year-old was playing professional cricket. He argued that children should focus on studies instead of high-pressure sporting events.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Impressive IPL Season
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, born in 2011, became one of the biggest success stories in the ongoing season. The Rajasthan Royals opener impressed fans with fearless batting throughout the tournament. Reports stated he scored more than 400 runs this season. His strike rate reportedly remained above 230 during the competition. Despite the activist’s allegations, India’s child labour laws include important exemptions. The law allows minors to participate in sports and artistic activities under regulated conditions. Legal experts believe this exemption weakens the proposed complaint against Rajasthan Royals.
The controversy has created major debate across social media platforms. Many fans defended Sooryavanshi and praised his exceptional cricketing talent. Several users argued that sports careers often begin at very young ages. Others questioned whether professional leagues should involve teenage players. Sooryavanshi earlier impressed for India in youth-level cricket tournaments. He also became one of the youngest players to feature in IPL history. Cricket experts praised his maturity and fearless batting performances this season.
