ZEE Nears FIFA World Cup 2026 Broadcast Deal for India. The Indian broadcast rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026 may finally be clarified soon. The latest reports suggest that ZEE Entertainment is close to securing the broadcasting rights for the tournament in India. As reported, FIFA and ZEE are currently engaged in advanced negotiations, and an official announcement could come this weekend. ZEE said they were engaged in discussions with FIFA on 26 May, and progress is continuing on the prestigious sporting event.
Media reports state that the FIFA World Cup broadcast deal for India may be worth approximately $30-$35 million. FIFA was reported to have lowered their expectations due to the low level of bids received for this event. At the beginning of the process, JioStar was considered the front-runner to win the FIFA World Cup broadcasting rights. However, their final bid was approximately $20 million, and they subsequently withdrew from negotiations.
Sony Pictures Networks India and Doordarshan also looked to potentially secure the rights to the FIFA World Cup but have now decided not to submit a final offer. Therefore, ZEE is now positioned to win the FIFA World Cup broadcasting rights. Recently, ZEE has been expanding its presence in sports programming, and acquiring the rights to the FIFA World Cup would significantly increase its footprint.
