After winning 2-0 against Bologna in the Champions League match, Liverpool wants to strengthen its defense. Arne Slot, Liverpool’s manager, wants the club to let go of Wataru Endo and bring in a younger, more skilled defensive midfielder.

Doing so, Slot wants to provide top-class cover and competition for Ryan Gravenberch. The Dutch footballer has shown wonderful performance for the team. But Liverpool’s new manager is adamant about signing a midfielder defense who can run alongside Gravenberch, 22. He has played 12 Premier League games under former manager Jurgen Klopp.

In the match against Bologna, Gravenberch made 18 passes, with a passing accuracy of 91.1 percent, three successful dribbles, won four duels, and gained possession nine times. Slot commended the footballer saying he was outstanding.

Liverpool Marks January Transfer Window

Endo joined Liverpool in 2023 but fell out of favor at the club with the coming in of Arne Slot. His contract expires in 2027 at Anfield, but Slot is adamant to take him out in the next window.  Word is that the Japanese midfield has failed to make a mark for himself in the club.

In an interview earlier last month, Endo, 31, shared that the club will give him a chance to play. He believes he will get his chance. “You can’t just use 11 players when you have a lot of games,” Endo said. “I’m sure I’ll get my turn.” The Japanese footballer highlighted that he is in good physical condition and has been training well.
