PSL 2026 to Be Played Behind Closed Doors in Lahore and Karachi Amid West Asian Conflict. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 will be played behind closed doors due to security concerns. The decision comes amid the West Asia conflict, which raised regional safety risks. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed major changes after consulting the government and security agencies.
Revised Venues and Security Measures
Originally, the tournament was planned across six venues in Pakistan. However, officials have reduced the venues to just Lahore and Karachi. This move aims to limit travel and ensure tighter security arrangements. All matches will now take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The National Stadium in Karachi will also host several key fixtures. No spectators will be allowed inside stadiums during the tournament.

The PCB believes empty venues will help ensure the safety of players and staff. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said national security remains the top priority. He added that large gatherings are not feasible under current conditions. The board has also cancelled the opening ceremony to avoid unnecessary risks. Team movements will be carefully managed between the two host cities. Security protocols have been strengthened for players, officials, and support staff.
Tournament Schedule and Format
PSL 2026 is scheduled to begin on March 26. The tournament will run until May 3, featuring a packed schedule. A total of 44 matches will be played during the competition. This season will also feature eight teams after the league’s recent expansion. Despite the challenges, the PCB decided not to postpone the tournament. Officials need to fulfil their obligations towards broadcasters, sponsors, and international viewers.
The league stands as a fundamental competition within Pakistan’s cricket schedule. The franchises have approved the updated security measures together with the new operational procedures. Players will come to the venues by travel protocols and safety measures. The international audience will receive continuous broadcast services according to the established schedule. Stadiums will lack their typical energetic environment because fans will not be able to enter. The decision demonstrates how international conflicts can disrupt sports competitions.

PCB maintains its expectation that the tournament will succeed despite current limitations. The officials will conduct ongoing assessments of the current situation within the area. The organisation will execute additional changes if the current situation deteriorates. The complete PSL 2026 season will take place in Lahore and Karachi at this time.
