In an unexpected development, Gary Kirsten has resigned as the head coach of the Pakistan cricket white ball team. He resigns barely six months after signing a two-year deal with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in April. The South African cricketer had helped the Indian national team win the World Cup. Gary Kristen said that he had personal reasons to justify his leave.
This information was communicated through a release that was issued by the PCB, stating that the Board was regretful about his leaving, however, appreciated his efforts in such a short time. The team’s objective under his coaching was to consolidate the few achievements the team had in the recent past. That includes the T20 World Cup in the USA.
Kirsten quit amid the national team’s checkered performance, winning some expected games but losing others. This made people talk about the team’s cohesion and tactics and also some rifts with Babar Azam. Information from PCB insiders suggests that Gary Kirsten was fully expected to rebuild the team in quick order. It turned out to be a greater nightmare than he had figured.

As he bade farewell, Gary Kirsten made it clear that he held the players and the PCB in high esteem, saying, “Thank you for the chance to work with such gifted people. Unfortunately, it seems this is where I and the team have to part ways for the good of everyone at this moment.”
Now the operative arm of the PCB has the responsibility to find an appropriate replacement for the previous coach. This situation is aggravated by the impending schedule that includes major tournaments such as the Asia Cup and World Cup qualifiers.
